Great weekend of Cricket! - Match Reports

1st XI v Horsham CC U18

The Worth cricket 1st XI kick started its six-game season playing against Horsham cricket club u18 on Saturday. Worth won the toss and decided to bowl first. Worth bowled and fielded well restricting Horsham to a first innings total of 145-9 in 40 overs. Good bowling performances coming from Alice Grant having figures of 1 for 25 of 8 overs, Ollie De Havas having figures of 1 for 31 of 8 overs, Mali taking 3 for 21 from 8. The stand out bowler was Jacob taking 4 for 19 off his 8 overs.

Worth then went into bat and chased the total of 146 in 36 overs. There were some notable performances with the bat coming from Ollie and Jacob both scoring 23 runs each and, steering us to victory, Mali with 54 not out.

1st XI v MCC

Worth’s second outing was against a much tougher opponent, the MCC in which Worth also bowled first. A tougher day in the field meant that we were set with a target of 219 runs to win of their 40 overs. Worth out up a strong fight and got close but not close enough ending up on a total of 202-5 after the 40 overs. Notable performances coming from Manoveer getting 31, Anish getting 56 and Mali getting 67.

Overall, the start to the season was very promising and there are many positives that we can take forward into our coming matches.
