Worth sporting history was made on Saturday (April 21) when the school fielded its first ever girls’ football team.

The side achieved a highly creditable 1-1 draw away to Christ's Hospital, scoring the opener after just two minutes of play.

For the vast majority of the Worth players this was their first experience of competitive football, with many of the girls having not kicked a ball prior to a handful of training sessions this term.

Although Worth began to tire in the second period, after an evenly poised first half in which they came close to scoring again on several occasions, the girls defended resolutely in the face of sustained pressure following the Christ Hospital equaliser and even had opportunities to score on the break in a game played in sweltering conditions.
